Great brands for sale in a pleasant atmosphere and priced just right as not to attract the lower end of manchesters market.
Me and my fiancee ventured up to Bluu Bar quite pleased with the way our night had gone sofar and i was impressed to see that Bluu was a lot bigger that the others in the area.
As we apprroached the door we were asked by one of the door staff to go round to the side of the bar and wait until he started to let people in again. I thought this a little strange as we could see through the windows that it wasnt particually busy for a friday night. A foreign chap in the queue commented on how they must be trying to prove a point by making it look busier than it was.
Eventually we were allowed through and i went to the bar to order a drink for us both. I was greeted by a tall balding bartender who seemed very competent, moving along the bar serving 2 or three people at once (i spent 4 years working at tgi fridays in my youth and respect this style of bartending greatly)
anyway, i was asked along with 4 others what i would like and i told him that i hadnt decided yet so he carried on with the other orders. i watched with admiration as he remembered everyones orders (although he was a little rude to the guy next to me who misunderstood one of his questions). as he got to the end of the drinks i said that i would like a whisky and coke. Immediately, he stopped what he was doing, put down his glass and said ."ok, When im ready to serve you , i'l ask you. what you just did was rude and ignorant" I was absolutely gobsmacked.Tthis little jumped up punk totally humiliated me in front of all the customers at the bar and i was only trying to help. I went to collect my girlfriend and we left. I was furious.
This area of manchester is still up and coming and it is obvious to me having been in the trade for over ten years that they are trying to create an image of exclusivity and that is ok if the bar lives up to the air of arrogance that it gives out. Bluu bar doesnt. It is nice inside, but only nice. to be honest with its scuffed walls and damaged furnature it really is looking tired and could do with some money throwing at it before they can speak to the customers the way i witnessed when i visited.
I would love to apply to manage the bar and fire that snotty nosed git behind the bar and remind him who pays his wages. 1 person agrees, 3 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagreeAnonymous says... go to bluu? Bluu is a great bar but much better during the day when you have the space to chill out or enjoy great food in relaxed atmosphere. 3 people agree, 4 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagreeAnonymous says... If you want to have a girl's night out spoilt by surly waiters and letchy blokes in suits practising the world's dullest chat up lines...go for it! if not, try Socio across the road, much nicer! 4 people agree, 4 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagreeAnonymous says... Way to many chavs in Bluu but hopefully they will stay in there and not come over the road and ruin the likes of socio rehab. 4 people agree, 4 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagreeBecky says... Great place for cocktails. Downstairs is good - very cosy - and the restuarant isn't bad either. 6 people agree, 6 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagreepaul griffiths says... Is it only me who hates the orange neon street-like lighting, the near darkness, the overrated food and the massive bill that follows it.
Some chav invasion also.Avoid. 8 people agree, 6 people disagree with this review AgreeDisagree |
