One of the old guard of Oldham Street, Gullivers has long been regarded as a ‘place to avoid’ by most of the Northern Quarter’s usual, trendy inhabitants, mainly, it has to be said, thanks to its usual inhabitants of...how do we put this...the more alternative side of Manchester. Drunks, if we’re being honest. The place was sort of legendary for Friday afternoon karaoke which apparently got very loud and very drunken, largely before most of us had left the office for the week.

September 2010 and Gullivers is undergoing something of a change it seems. A trawl of the internet reveals plans for it to become 'Gullivers Alternative Music Pub and Venue', apparently hosting a whole range of rock bands in the newly refurbished venue upstairs. Sounds interesting.
