Ithaca review

Ithaca manchester photoIthaca is a new ?3.6million bar-cum-restaurant scheduled to open in December 2006 sometime soon (we hope). The restaurant is to host a modern pan Asian menu, and the venue is expected to consist of Ithaca, Ikarus and Solaris. Confused? Don't be - this is an up market drinking/eating hole that promises to blow every other bar out of the water.

Greek Asian is totally incorrect. Ithaca is a Japanese, Pan-Asian restaurant. Should you wish to clarify how amazing the food actually is feel free to check out the review on Manchester Confidential - I believe 19/20 makes Ithaca the highest scoring restaurant in Manchester. And yes, Ithaca is now open to the public.

In answer to the clueless person that said it will go under because it has only got a 1 am license... What do you know about restaurants ?? Keep your uneducated opinions to yourself. Most of londons top and I mean top restaurants only have 12 am or 1 am licenses. This is going to be somewhere which will put manchester back on the map. Arnie Hira is one of the north wests best and nicest business men and he has a passion to be successful. So you stick to going to your after 1 am restaurants while I am in ithaca enjoying the food and atmosphere !

Let me tell you, I have been fortunate to be ding work on this bar, We have carried out the stunning Glass wall clad on the third floor, and the glass surrounding the lifts on all floors, and 6.4 meter high glass going from the ground and up to the ceiling on the first floor. I work for glass and mirror technical services ltd in Denton Manchester ............This bar is a knockout it looks fabulous, It will never go under, it will wipe the floor with lounge, cocoa rooms, etc It is a no expense spared project and you can see where every penny as been spent. It is absoluley fabulous, and I wish the owners and the shareholders all the best. .....

I was recently taken round this venue, it looks stunning, the 3rd floor black glass walls look fabulous, with mirror randomly placed. It looks fantastic. The other floors are decorated with a black sparkly wall-paper this also looks fantastic, The fitting are of the highest quality. This will be the night spot for all.

This place has run out of money! It'll be lucky to be opened this side of next new year unless they can get some serious investors interested.

HI Ben, you are totally wrong, The people behind this venue, have plenty, exclude Rio Ferdinand as one of the share holders they still have plenty, Arnie also has plenty, they will throw money at this, and believe me it will work, I have been working in this place fitting out the glass walls. It looks fabulous, and it will work.

When is this place opening, i've been following reviews for a few months now? Can't wait

This will never happen. I work for one of the investors and anyone waiting for it to open will have a long wait. The investors are desperately trying not to go bankrupt. Opening the club is not even an issue right now. So if your looking to book, i would get out your Yellow pages out and try elsewhere!

all the negative fools are going to be made laughing stocks out of, just finished our scope of works on the site today and this venue i have to say is the best venue i have ever seen in al 42 years of my life.

The person writing in CAPITALS is obviously threatened by Arnie and by ITHACA. Come on gents, this is not a school playground, this is a blog to review bars, restaurants and or clubs. What Happened Last Night shouldn't allow personal attacks to be posted, they are not relevant and not of interest. We want to read about decor, service, quality of food, quality of drinks, atmosphere etc... Not I defy you and you defy me. lol GROW UP... Sorry couldn't resist that level of immaturity you are all playing at, with the CAPITAL font!

What the $$$$?

Are these comments for real? Why would the people fitting it out think to go on this site and make commments - I smell bull shizzle. If they are actually the people doing the work, I just hope for their own sake it's cash upfront.

That Arni guy seems to do a lot of swanning around, re-arranging his facebook, myspace and bebo pages to make sure he has the fittest girls at the top, but when it comes to action I don't see much else happening.

All fur coat and no knickers. I regularly speak to people directly involved at this place and even they laugh about it. What is it now? 18 months behind schedule and more spent than the ?3.6 million - much more. Remember, this guy was involved in another 'up-market' restaurant/ bar in Hale which managed to survive a little over a year. Pants. Joe Akka must be laughing his arse off

As someone that lives in both Manchester and London, frequents Nobu regularly and understands somewhat the previous success of hira, I cant for the life of me imagine why an organisation as sound as the Nobu would even wipe their rear with ithaca nevermind entertain a takeover bid.

why dont you sad people give arnie a break, im sure he has his reasons for the delay, none of which are anyones business but the investors, you people cant really think that he is that stupid as to let something so commercially viable go down the drain....... I say shut up you losers and good luck arnie

arnie

you dont need to responded to these w...kers. If they had an clue what it is like to startup a business then they would be doing it themselves. Thats why they have jobs as garbage refusal collectors ( bin men ). Finance even Richard Branson uses finance to buy his cars. Every wise businessman uses banks monies for depreciating assets. Arnie carry on and good luck for 2008 and the future. Ithaca will be a great sucess watch it !

The notion expressed by the name ????? (Ithaca) is closely related to the Greek culture. The closest rendition in English would be "homeland"; however, there are notions in ????? that the word "homeland" does not encompass. Ithaca is a Greek island in the Ionian Sea. In Homer's Odyssey we read that it was the homeland of Ulysses. After the Trojan War, which lasted ten years, Ulysses struggled to return to his island. He went through hardships and suffered during another ten years before he could finally return to Ithaca, next to his wife and son. These hardships included storms, fights against the Cyclopes, efforts to resist the spell of the sorceress Circe and the singing of the Sirens, among others. In the modern Greek language, Ithaca represents the homeland from which one has been away, the homeland missed, the native land far from which one has been suffering; it represents one's home, family, and friends. In addition to homeland (location/environment), Ithaca represents a psychological and sociological notion: it represents life without suffering, one?s normal way of life in the case one has acquired harmful habits such as drinking or drugs; it can also represent the innocent life of a child that is free of worries and pain. Thus, the phrase "to return to one's Ithaca" is commonly used in Greek to refer to the return to such ways of life. As an example, one of the biggest drug-detoxification clinics in Greece is called "?????".

This name was selected because "Ithaca" inspires hope and optimism; the allusion to Ulysses?s island implies that even after many years of hardships and suffering, one can still return to one?s initial way of life, to one?s home and family, to one?s healthy existence
