Bars in Printworks

There's a ton of bars in the Printworks, so if you're heading here to watch a movie, or for a whole night out then there's plenty of places for you to drink, and they're usually very cheap.

Lounge 31,ManchesterLounge 31
31 Withy Grove
Modern bar

Lounge 31 is a new late night bar within the Printworks featuring seven days of entertainment, and opening hours till 7am on weekends. The venue opened in October 2007, and has been pretty busy thanks to it's swanky interior and late night opening - a godsend in Manchester which, despite it's '24hour Party People' tag, tends to close down after 2am! Lounge 31 has a mixed music policy, concerntrating on the softer side of urban and R&B, but as a self described 'style bar' - with luminaries such as The Living Room, Sugar Lounge and of course Cloud 23 as it's rivals - the venue was going to have to pull out all the stops to succeed. Inside you'll find a stunning venue that's certainly up there with the best of them in Manchester, in fact a large proportion of their staff have been 'borrowed' from these venues so you may recognise some faces. Private booths are available for hire, each with their own LCD TV, and a VIP area that's seperate from the rest of the bar by curtains.

Lloyds No. 1,ManchesterLloyds No. 1
Printworks
Cheap and Cheerful bar

Lloyds No. 1 is a sub-brand of Wetherspoons - so you know what to expect here. Cheap drinks, cheap food and a party atmosphere make this the destination of choice for all those that head to the Printworks. It's not my bag, but a lot of people love this place. Props to them, they're all alcoholics.

Old Orleans,ManchesterOld Orleans
Printworks
Cheap and Cheerful bar

This lively restaurant is situated in the Printworks, located just off the city centre next to Victoria Station. Cajun food is the order of the day, with a relatively low cost menu comprising of 'Southern' favourites like Nachos, Louisiana Wings and sugared waffles. The decor inside, as expected, is like something from the deep south - the service is prompt and the food tasty, but not world beating. For a quick cheap bite to eat, Old Orleans delivers (and then some).

Opus,ManchesterOpus
Withy Grove
Cheap and Cheerful bar

Launching in March 2006, Opus has taken over the huge four level building in the Printworks. Promising to bring "the future of entertainment and dining" to Manchester, the venue houses 4 separate spaces, with five bars and two restaurants.

Island,ManchesterIsland
Unit 11 - 12
Members Bar bar

A new members bar located inside the giant Pure nightclub (Printworks). The Island allows clubgoers to relax in a swish environment that's been modelled on Richard Branson's Necker Island. The benefits include waiter service, fresh fruit, and members can get themselves and up to five friends in to The Island (as well as Pure) for free. Membership starts at £30 per month, which includes free entry to the club and The Island bar, and goes up to £45 per month, to include a free car service from up to five miles away. The Sessions Bar,ManchesterThe Sessions Bar
Units 11 - 12
Cheap and Cheerful bar

Formerly the Pure Magic Bar, The Sessions Bar acts as a pre-club warm up for anyone hitting the giant Pure club in the Printworks. Open from 4pm each day, the bar offers two for one cocktails till 8pm (and if you pick the right combination you can get the equivalent of sixteen shots for a mere £4.50) with beers and alcopops from £2 to £3. From Sunday to Thursday you can get a mixer and single shot for £1.50. There's an ambitious food menu that offers sandwiches, burgers and wraps, although at £7 for a main and £5 for a starter it's not a cheap option.
