Ah Po Na Na, this bar holds a place in my heart. As a student in Manchester this was the second bar that I visited, the first being Mash & Air which closed about a billion years ago. I headed back over to the venue a few weeks ago and it looked pretty much the same - but like a wine or woman (excluding Whitney Houston) this has aged well.

Despite being owned by the huge Po Na Na group this venue manages to remain individual, with a mish mash of underground nights that celebrate music from around the globe. For those of you that aren't into world music, or prefer funky house, then you won't care about the tunes because you'll be loving the decor. Made out like some kind of Spanish bordello, the ceilings are low and the walls are badly plastered, with the addition of a huge bed-like-area and ornate wooden dividers.

The drinks are top notch, the clientele are decent so if you're heading out in Manchester and trying to avoid BOOM BOOM BOOM music this is a good bet.
