If you were to judge Room on percentage points then it's more of a restaurant than a bar. At our estimate it's 70% restaurant, 30% bar (and the recent addition of DJs on their Friday nights perhaps adds a nightclub into the mix). Never mind the stats, Room gets 10/10 for decor - the place looks amazing and you have fantastic views of King Street and the surprisingly attractive HSBC building opposite. Entrance is via a discrete door at ground level. Hit the stairs, turn the corner and you?re faced with the small but perfectly formed 30%. To your right is the remaining 70%. Chill out, take a seat. Your ashtray will get changed every five minutes, without fail.
Drinks prices are heavy-ish on the wallet (?6 cocktails, wine ?14.50+) but ?u get wht u pay 4?. The food? Meh. The drinks? Lovely. So in the unlikely event of a 'fight to the death' between the restaurant section and the bar area, we'd be rooting for the latter.
