Snook review

Home to the Romp pre party (every Thursday) Snook sits on the former site of Something Blue in Fallowfield, which itself was a bastion of good taste along the alco-pop strip.

Snook is the best! My friends and i try to make it a weekly thing and it's brilliant every time! We dont even look at the menu anymore- it's "three pornstars!" (to begin with!) By the end of term im pretty sure we will have gone through the whole menu! i love strawberry blonde! and love everything about the place! especially the cute barman!! no idea what i'm gonna do without the place over summer........!

Snook has a good atmosphere and is one of the better venues in fallowfield. Laid back, trendy, ability to talk, not shout! But the service can be pretty bad...I'd advise you stand back from the bar when your drink is being mixed, my girlfriend has been sprayed with orange juice, cranberry juice and lime before (seperate occasions) also the servers seem to like talking their time! Apart from that...an ok place, despite the crappy service I still go!

I was sad to see Something Blu go cos I loved that place but feel that Snook is every bit as good in its own way. Its totally different to Blu but in terms of decor/lighting but the good service and atmosphere remain.

So much respect to the guys there, they've just gone and made the kind of place that they would like to drink in, and I think the personal touch shows. I'me in the bar trade in manc, used to drink at their old bar, but everyone knows that they were the core of Socio rehab (another awesome bar: similar style), Fallowfield in privilged! You wouldn't notice it apart from the kitch pink neon heart sign, when you get in there, the decor is slightly random but comfortable and funky with lots of leather and cool pics on the walls, aswell as the afore mentioned soft porn, great if there's not much eye candy in the bar (no problems so far though!!) The best seat in the house has got to be the pimping booth by a mile! A leather bed with cushions everywhere surrounded in dark mosaic tiles! They've thought of everything...your own volume and light dimmer for setting the mood, great if you're with someone special..! The bar stocks more bottles than anywhere, even I havn't got a clue what half of them are, but the bartenders there certainly do. The cocktails are brilliant, so different but the best drinks are to be found by getting chatting to the guys. They can make you ANYTHING! After 2 out of this world mojito's, I had to go and ask one of the Daves how he was doing it, no secret recipies he even wrote it down for me. I think he's the guy from Socio who won some cocktail awards but he wouldn't talk about it!! All in all a great bar, in fallowfield it stands out especially far. If I had to criticise, (cant be all good) I would say that the music sometimes has some 'leftfield' moments and i've been in there at the same time on the same nights and heard everything from funky house to the kings of leon. Oh and it closes too early during the week (12.30) but I guess thats not their fault. Netherless get your arse down there!

Stumbled across Snook last night and what a pleasant surprise! I assure you that anyone with any style will love this bar, no chavy draught lagers, just well chosen premium bottled beers and in addittion, i they have every spirit imaginable, i didn't have a cocktail myself, but the menu is great and the cocktails i saw other people drinking looked great!! Excellent ombiance, decor and music, friendly bar staff - Highly recommended!!

When I was a student way back in 2002, snook used to be a restaurant/bar called "something blue" - a place I used to love.... When I went back to Manchester last month I saw it had been replaced with Snook. Me and my fellow ex-Manchester Uni mate were disappointed our old haunt had gone -but to cut a long story short, we bowled in and absolutely hammered our credit cards. The place was fantastic - the lad behind the bar mixed some awesome cocktails and also did some special "made to order" drinks.... No attitude, friendly people and a very chilled out vibe. Perhaps I'm just used to snotty London bars but it was a real change and we stayed there for a few hours propping up the bar and hammering the cocktails. Go there. Don't eat anything first. Just DRINK... LOVELY. I couldn't end the review without mentioning the star attraction which for me was the barmaid "Jody" - Jody you're beautiful and I promise you, if that's what you want, I'll make you famous.

This is my favourite bar in Fallowfield and possibly the whole of Manchester. Yes it certainly comes with a price tag attached but the quality of what you get is incomparable to any of its student bar neighbours. The cocktails are top class and even the one with the raw egg in it is a tasty treat. All of the three bar staff mix the cocktails slightly differently so you get to experience different takes on the same drinks. Dave, if you ask him nicely, will even mix you something that's not on the menu, his gingerbread creation is gorgeous. The bar and wait staff it has to be said are also very easy on the eye and a great laugh. The cocktails come garnished with so much fruit that I have often used the excuse that going to Snook is the only way that I will ever get my recommended 5 portions a day! Plus there are also the rainbow sweeties and glow sticks to keep those not so concerned with the nutritional value of their bevvies happy. The soft focus porn projected on the wall next to the bar is also a kitsch treat that is highly entertaining. The music is super funky but not intrusive, however sometimes you do wish there was more room to dance. In conclusion, I love this bar. I love the drinks, I love the staff and can be found their most nights. If you are in there one evening and the barman looks through the window and begins to make a porn star martini before anyone even goes up to the bar you will know I'm nearly home.
