Hi I was in Thompsons last night and it was sh*t, can u tell me the best days to go ? and have Thompson's got a website

Thompsons arms is a mint place. If you go on a saturday night, i would say this is the best night. It plays a mixture of music, and the DJ is cool. Ive been goin there quite a while now, and each time i have a good night. All the people in there are really nice and you will have a good night! You can speak to anyone in there, they all down to earth. They even sell poppers behind the bar, which is cool coz you can get fu*ked lol.

I love the Thompsons Arms is is my favourite pub in the village the beer is nice the bar staff are friendly and the music is bopping highly recommended

I have been going to the Thompsons arms now for at least 8 years and have always felt welcome and enjoyed myself.... sadly though recently me and my friends (all regulars) are not even admitted, for the first time in years i have been asked for membership which i was told by a shrimp of a bouncer on a total power trip that i can get it online..bull s*it. there are pathetic rules regarding open toe shoes which i get the feeling the owners are trying to make it hard for girls to get in and when i have git in and my mates have been refused i have noticed that its empty... listen up Thompsons refusing regulars is like cutting u'r own throat... we have voices and u have a reputation.. relax and sort out u'r door shrimps..

this would be a good bar if you didnt have a 3 foot blond midget and a fat peter kay lookalike workin on the doors on a saturday night..... they are actually wrecking the reputaion of a once great bar!

used to be a dead good place to go for all your regular chart music n to have a good dance. However, the fun seems to have stopped no thanks to a midget woman who really should be a security guard for the kids department in george. She is so mean and seems to let absolutely anybody in, if u dont look gay your not getting in, what a load of s**t!
Get rid of the woman and lift your stupid rule of no high heels and maybe u can start pulling in the punters again.

Me and a friend tried to get in (both girls) and an idiot of a woman on the door decided not to let us in. We didnt understand why.
But my friend knows the manager so he let us in if we promised to sit down all night. We started dancing and got thrown out
They are so rude in this place and need to consider getting new staff, instead of the knobs already there.....

Love the Thompson Arms and its changing for the better with its improved redecoration and the floor space. Lovely Barbara serving with chat and wit makes my afternoons. Fridays are atmospheric and brilliant and vibrant, quiet drink in the afternoons and a colourful mix at night. x

well glad to see u got rid of the old door staff i find the new 1's funny and good at judging the right crowd, it is now becoming a gay bar again but think the ruling about women is terrible, am a regular in there n most of the times i go i see the new door staff havin to face and clean up the mess of the old door staff, if your ruling for women was less leniant then may be u would have more custom and less agro..... plz take this into consideration as all gays have straight female friends who feel safer going to a gay bar rather than there usual" straight" night out! and just to add the owner does spek to ppl like s*it if he dont want you in there and i think that is wrong aswell after all if we as customers did'nt go in there then that bar would be none existant!

the new door staff are top they make the night feel safer and also the owner is a tosser! del boy and norma are ace lol

Never used to like Thompsons but it seems to have changed now, for the better. i went in the other week, and went upstairs and it was well cheap and good d'j playin good music, cant understand why it wasnt more busy though.. but nah am gonna go in there again def.

i am a very regular customer of thompsons and also a club manager, i manage clubs alot bigger than thompsons and i think although the new door staff are ace the prices are good the dj's and music are excellent the bar staff need training and you need more bar staff, i was in there last saturday 19th jan and we wer sent to the upstairs bar and there was one bar person serving, i found the barman to be very agressive and abusive to customers for example, a young lad waited 30mins to be served because the bar guy was serving all his friends first and when the lad questioned the barman his reply was "i have only got one pair of f*ckin hands are you blind or something, if you dont wanna wait p*ssoff back downstairs to the other bar"

Yes i totally agree with the last comment about Thompsons. Its got everything going for it appart from good bar staff, i also was in there last saturday 19th Jan and the bar staff were slow as f*ck downs stairs and am sure serving thier mates or regulars first, and i cant stand that sort of thing. i was stood there with my mate for 20 minutes at the very least waiting to get served and when i did it was like it was a big effort and they couldnt be arsed. Thats put me off the place, am not puttin up with that sort of thing. sorry Thompsons you ignorant b*stards, you've just lost a few customers there, me and my mates wont be back. The fact they dont have no doors on the bogs downstairs shows wot sort of people go in there anyway.

Saturday night just gone did it for me No more Thompsons AT ALL, you have just lost a regular group of 15-20 regulars, the attitude of your bar staff is disgusting, arrogant cocky glorified bar people is all they are ! This place isn't going to last long at all if this carries on so many people around the village talking about Thompsons going down the drain, sort out your bar staff they are so un organised they seem to serve people who they know or people who shout for them They are all over the bar, you should have 2 bar persons serving on each side of the bar Good Luck with the future you will need it

What a load of old s*it! Tompsons arms is a clicky scruffy hole, with an owner (well i think he's the owner, ugly balding guy) who has no people skills whatsoever. Totally agree with all the other bad comments posted bout this hell hole. THIS PLACE IS IN DESPERATE NEED OF A TAKEOVER!

Thompsons is a great place, cheep drinks, good music always a lively crowd, your guaranteed not to find some silly queens up them selfs or people playing the whos looking at me game! Making a change from the bars on canal st!

The bar staff however are yet to be desired.......much of the old staff have now left (shame) The new staff are not as quiet as good or appealing to the eye, im sure with due time the management will become aware of this....

all in all make shure its your turn to get a round in if you do pop in and dont be to shy to give the dance floor ago!

I must agree with what alot of people are saying! its a great friendly place to be loads of nice peeps in there as for the bar staff well if i had a boss like that Phil guy i wud b like that too! He has run that place down to the ground its just the regular people and the nice folk that go in there that are keeping it going!
I have never seen such a lazy div that sits at the end of a bar doing sweet FA to help, U LAZY BOLD PERVI F*KER And as for the remark about the doors in the loos?? well they have probly been remover so the owner can have a good luk! coz dont know if u notice or not but where he sits at the end of the bar near the snooker table? well if u stand there and look to the toilets well the 2 loos that have no doors u can see str8 into from where he sits EXPLAINES ALL! Perv!

Well me too, I must agree with all of the negative posts on here. I went in on monday just gone, it was embarrassing to watch the fantastic Miss Thunderpussy trying to get some response from the few people in there, even she must see this place as a meal ticket, cause there aint much to perform to. Love Miss Thunderpussy bye the way I just wish she would move venues. Does anyone notice that strange smell when you walk in too? Its as if the air conditioners are harbouring some deadly strain of Legonaires disease. totally agree with the person that just wrote about the bald guy, what a f*ckin creep.

The bar smells of S**t, the staff look like they may actually be caked in there own S**t. The place looks like its full of rent boys and old perv's. Owner included!
Bring back barry and graham, The place was a decent venue back then.

Good news guys, I Just read in this months 'Out North West', that in the next few years the council is planning to extend the bus station on chorton street thus eradicating this sh*t hole hopefully, Bad news though, The car park where the main stage over pride is situated might be under threat, due to the extention of the bus staion.

i agree with the person below actually, this place is awful now since it got took over.
Besides that whole area where thompsons is wont be there for much longer as its listed for regeneration with the council, as the bus station is to be extended.

Fab Bar where u can chill or dance & just be urself with out some full of themself plonker looking down on u ! I do drink in more trendy places around the village but it nice just to relax with a pint & dance without ppl avin attituted x

I have been goin in thompsons for bout 7 yrs and i do think it does nees some more improvments but i think the current bar staff are ok i have never had any trouble getting served
