Ive only been to vanilla a few times..i found it very territorial..meaning if your not regular then your not welcome...come on ladies were all here for the same thing to make new friends...easy on the snarling... I will go back and see how friendly the ppl are now i have posted this notice...door people you are really nice and friendly as are the bar staff...so come on punters a lil smile wont kill..

bin a few times loved it... the older female bouncer seemed pretty down to earth but dont know if thats just coz i was p*ssed hehe. Imagined it to be alot bigger than it was... but felt rite in place. Apart from a few bitches in there but apart from tht it was mint x jade x

I loved Vanilla, I worked there when I was 19 which was 6 years ago now. I loved my t-shirt Everyone was really friendly and funky! I want to move back, I miss Manc! I'm living in Glasgow and it has got nothing on Manchester Gay Scene!

Very clicky bar. Not very welcoming to new people the staff aren't very friendly unless they know you, they have the attitude that they don't want to be there, and this shows. For some strange reason also all the staff seemed to think they are gods gift to women, quite amusing really as this is seriously not the case.

Never been to Vanilla myself, but met one of the staff from there quite recently - and she was a VERY GOOD kisser! plus points for that
but even she told me, that some places in Canal Street are very over rated, and that its all geet clicky like.
id like to go just for the experience and it would be nice to be around so many fellow lesbians, but at the same time, i cant be botherd with the typical 'im relitavly thin, you can see my boxers and i have funky hair there fore im alowed to be arogant' lezbos - but theyr inevitable everywhere

Vanilla has really got its act together and lost its old grumpy manager, the new one is so nice and welcoming, good move, it shows as the bar is packed all the time.
Liking the new seating and chill out zone upstairs, + the lady in the loos who provides the best service in the village.

Vanilla seems to be a private members bar for the staff and their friends! No one wants to know you unless you have perfect hair, looks, clothes, etc! Shallow bar for shallow people!

Whats it like with couples? Lesbian couples of course - but is it just full of singles trying to pull or can couples go there for a nice place to be ourselves?

i think vanilla is bloody ace! ok, so there are the steriotypical lesbians, perfect hair, good clothes, piercings, then the ones who stay as themselves lmao. but then again who can complain, when me and my mate whent we had a right laugh, and unfortunately catching a lot of attention for our dancing and grinding. we had a lot of fun at the end of the night being drunk and have had spilling our drinks everywhere and hitting our heads on tables, but we had enough of a laugh and the staff and door-women are really friendly :)

This place is certainly for the younger crowd. Staff are not friendly and have an over inflated sense of everything about them, which suits the clientele who are the same.
Drinks are overpriced...they sell the tiny bottles of beer (multipack becks and carlsberg 275ml). And one night they said they were having a performer on who didn't show up, such a con. Played sex on fire like 5 times that night...Annoying DJ..It's high time another lesbian bar comes along and plays real music with taste. What about the live music? This place is so overrated, and popular. Oh BTW watch out for the guys outside from italy or poland who are preying on drunk lesbos. They act like they're new in town, but really they want to shag a drunk lesbo. I live in Manchester and I'll never go back to this place again, because its just crap.

I agree with the above comment......vanilla is brilliant, and is always a welcoming place to go. Its full of hot fit girl students (hmmmmm) and also every range. The music is amazing, especially on the fridays and the popbitch night, totally out of this world DJ. Its always busy, and is the place to be

Vinilla seems ok from the outside, but once you enter, everyone stares at you (especially if you are new). Their drinks are too pricey, and very clicky bar.

Its full of silly little hard women who actually need to grow up and put there beer bellys away ! Not to mention there arses!What the village needs for women is a bar who does not let skids and arse holes in were you can meet nice ladies who can actually talk and relax with instead of overweight pink & Tom Cruise lookalikes.

It's a buzz in vanilla, I have noticed people disagreeing with prices, but to be fair they always have deals on a menu and it is visibly noticeable for everyone, displayed on the bar as well as the tables! The door security woman is gawjus - I want her eleven didgets.
