Jurys Inn Manchester
56 Great Bridgewater Street, Deansgate, manchester.
Cheap and Cheerful, the Jurys is one of the best budget hotels in Manchester. Rooms start at just £65, and the hotel is opposite the Bridgewater Hall - just a minutes walk from central Manchester. Deansgate Locks is just around the corner - with plenty of bars - and there's restaurants in the nearby Castlefield. The hotel has it's own bar and restaurant, meeting rooms and there's car parking just opposite (under the Manchester Central, formerly the Gmex).
Macdonald Hotel Piccadilly
91 London Road, Piccadilly, manchester.
The former BT building on Piccadilly has been converted in to a three hundred room hotel with it's own gym, on site restaurants and the promise of luxury - at a relatively affordable price. The regeneration of Piccadilly is nearing completion, and the residents at the Macdonald hotel can make the most of what the area has to offer.
Tib Street, Northern Quarter, manchester.
One of the best Budget hotels in the city centre, the Britannia Sachas has rooms from just £55, and the hotel's close to central Manchester (very close, in fact). Despite the price the hotel has it's own swimming pool, 24hr room service and a gym. Not the fancies hotel in Manchester, but if you're looking for a roof over your head and possibly a swim, then this is one of the cheapest in the heart of the city.
City Inn Manchester
One Piccadilly Place, Piccadilly, manchester.
A brand new two-hundred room hotel in the now-fashionable Piccadilly. There's floor to ceiling windows with views of the city, Ipods in each room and the City Inn even has two on site bars and a restaurant...plus the all important twenty four hour room service. Within walking distance of the Malmaison, Rossetti and the brand new Macdonald hotel, the City Inn come out on top. On site parking with porter service gave this hotel the edge.
Potato Wharf, Castlefield, manchester.
The YHA offers cheap double and quintuple rooms in a clean, fairly modern hotel that's based in Castlefield, not far from the city centre. With room rates from just £50 per night it's a relatively cheap way of staying so close to the city centre, with the advantage of the waterways and relative calm of the Castlefield Basin.
Piccadilly, Piccadilly, manchester.
The stunning Malmaison is built in a former cotton warehouse, and since the hotel opened in 2001 it's become hugely popular - not just for the overnight stays, but also for the Malmaison Brasserie. The hotel's also got an onside gym, salon and there's twenty four hour room service. Manchester city centre is just through the Malmaison's front doors.... The normal rate is £150 per night, but we've got room rates from £99.
Our Guide: Accommodation in Manchester
In the last ten years Manchester has had a huge amount of investment and the city is almost unrecognisable from what it was in the late nineties. With the huge number of visitors that now come to Manchester theres been a need for new hotels, and central Manchester now has a number of key hotels (and even more planned). The Manchester Hilton - the first in the city - opened in September 2006, and this followed the new Radisson on Peter Street. After this the Macdonald Hotel and City Inn opened, both are in Piccadilly, and they brought a new level of affordable luxury to the centre (with plenty of electronic gadgets as well).
Meanwhile over in Salford Quays there are two new hotels that are scheduled to open. The Etap and the Encore hotels share the same building on Trafford Road, close to Old Trafford and Manchester United, and overlooking (at a stretch) Salford Quays. Both hotels satisfy the need for more budget hotel rooms in the city, and there are plenty of budget hotels in Manchester that offer cheap rates per night. There's an ever-growing number of Serviced apartments available in Manchester and Salford Quays. Instead of paying for a bedroom in a hotel, you can rent an apartment within a trendy city centre development (on a nightly basis) so you get access to a kitchen, living room - usually with an entertainment system - and often a bacony, private parking and more. You can stay in a serviced apartment in Manchester for around 80 pounds per night.
