The Hilton Deansgate opened in October 2006, and they've taken over 23 floors of the landmark Beetham Tower. Situated on the corner of Deansgate and Liverpool Road, this 47 storey high tower is ideally located with the city centre just a few minutes walk away, and there's plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs within walking distance of the hotel.

The Hilton houses 279 bedrooms, ranging from standard rooms (approx £120/night) to the King Executive Plus (just over £200/night). The facilities within the hotel are five star, with two bars, a restaurant and leisure facilities. The top floor of the hotel is taken over by the Cloud 23 sky bar, which offers great cocktails, and amazing views across the city. We've had some complaints from readers that it's hard for the public to gain access to the bar, but hotel residents get the red carpet treatment!

Within the Hilton is the Livingwell Express Mini Gym, with a swimming pool and three spa rooms.

As usual the Hilton concierge service works like a charm - they can provide information on where to visit, and if you're travelling across the city there's a metro link station just a few streets down.

Room prices at the Hilton are with the other Manchester hotels that provide a similar service: the Malmaison, The Lowry, The Rosetti Hotel and the stunning boutique hotel on Great John Street are all competitors. The Hilton, however, has Manchester's only sky bar and it's housed within a stunning 47-storey glass tower. Definitely worth a visit, and our readers seem to agree....

I agree with the views on the hiltons sky bar, and also that the read of the hotel is spot on. Certainly enjoy my stay, service was top notch.

Worth it for the views alone if you're lucky enough to get a room at the top of the Manchester Hilton and I thoroughly enjoyed the Skybar at the top too (despite reading some of the negative reports) although I was staying midweek so I imagine it'll be full of non-hotel guests and ponces on the weekend! I didnt make the most of what the hotel had to offer, except room service and that was up to the Hilton's normally excellent standard.

Excellent service especially from the front desk (who directed us to Akbars for food which was equally good) and very happy with the rooms and the facilities (gym). We didn't bother with the Sky Bar (it seems a little bit naff to us) but everything's else at the Hilton was perfect. We will be back soon I hope.

Re the lady whose husband was not deemed to be dressed appropriately, I am wondering if the women with the clip board would have thought that David Beckham etc wearing very very expensive ripped jeans would have also been thought of as being inappropriately dressed and refused entry to the sky bar. FAT CHANCE!

My husband and I had been on holiday in Greece and on way home to Scotland stopped off in manchester we were not resident at Hilton but had heard so much about the Cloud 23 bar we decided to go for a drink there I was looking forward to trying the Ena Sparkles cocktail. However the lady with the clip board decided my husband was too casually dressed despite wearing Calvin Klein shirt and dress 3/4 trousers he was deemed not smart enough . I noted he was as casual as some others in the queue. I am thinking of starting a group for those people who have been refused entry to this bar.

Very impressed. Great service and loved the views. Food was good in the room and in the restaurant (Podium) but didnt go up to the Cloud 23 bar. Never been a fan on Hiltons but this one had changed my opinion. Quality hotel - as good as any (in this price range) in London.

I have avoided Hilton hotels for years for work and leisure (from a bad experience) but tried Deansgate 16 May for 5 nights. What a pleasant surprise.... We had two rooms and they were as good as you can get anywhere. This is the best hotel we have ever used in the Uk for attention to customer service and it is obvious that they have addressed this. The receoption staff were exceptional (and before you think it, no I am not staff !). Great resturants in a close wlalk (try Wings for superb Chinese). The resturant staff are friendly but the only "challenge" for this hotel is the poor quality food in the evening. (and I do really mean poor quality) However, eat out at one of the many resturants and your stay will be very satisfiying. 9.8 out of 10.

This was the highlight of my trip to Manchester and the Hilton exceeded my expectations. We did not get a change to use the Cloud 23 Bar but we ate in the Podium Restaurant (Ground Floor) twice and it was excellent. The room and views were the highlight - the rooms were small but well decorated and very welcoming. The location was also very good as we were almost in the city centre and there were plenty of things to do on Deansgate. Highly recommended!

Very impressed with the new Hilton, and that's coming from a guy who considers The Lowry too downmarket! Minor grip with the Hilton Sky Bar, this wasn't my cup of tea, but the service and rooms made up for this. I loved the location as well, perfect for me (but might not be for everyone) and I can't comment on the pricing as I put this through my business. Any hotel that's under ?150 and offers this level of service is a bargain in my book, well done Hilton Deansgate.

Great hotel and a great location. Not sure about the fuss over the skybar, but the service at the Hilton is top notch.

I stayed here last week and thought the Hilton was great, definitely a good location as it's not as noisy as the other city centre hotels. Deansgate has a lot of bars and restaurants within a five minute walk, although I ate one night in the Hilton and it was good.

Lovely hotel, well worth the wait! We had booked for the opening weekend but got put back as the hotel was not ready. The Hilton Deansgate was our second trip to Manchester we had previously stayed at the Lowry, which was also a great hotel. The highlights of the Beetham Hotel were the amazing views, the bar and the very attentive service. the rooms were a bit smaller than we had hoped but it more than made up for it.

The Beetham Tower is located on Deansgate, at the junction with Liverpool Road. The Hilton Hotel is located within the Beetham Tower, taking over the first twenty three floors (including the Manchester sky bar). Deansgate is easily reached from the M60 ring road, as well as the M6, M56 and M62 motorways - follow the signposts for Manchester city centre and for Deansgate, and the hotel tower is visible from several miles away. If you're coming to Manchester on the train then alight at Manchester Piccadilly and get a taxi (approx. seven minutes/£5) or the smaller Deansgate station is just two minutes walk from the Hilton Hotel.
