manchester hotel pic There's plenty of boutique hotels in Manchester, in particular the Malmaison and Rossetti, both based on the busy strip between Piccadilly and the city centre. There's more established Manchester hotels like the Midland, Princess on Portland (formerly the Princess Hotel) and the popular and inexpensive Jurys Inn. We have hotel room deals from £55/room in Manchester city centre.

Manchester has historically been a city of hotels, yet it's only recently that you could sleep in a five star establishment. The Lowry hotel is based close to Deansgate, and was our first five star hotel, followed by the Radisson Edwardian. Near five star service can be picked up at the Midland hotel - the granddaddy of Mancunian hotels - and the and The Great John Street hotel. The recently completed Manchester Hilton (Deansgate) is also winning praise for it's service, and the hotel is located within the landmark Beetham Tower.

Great John Street is part of the Eclectic Boutique hotels that have proven popular with the well heeled and celebrities like Mike Tyson. They have more affordable rooms in their sister hotels, The 11 Didsbury Park and Didsbury House, based in Didsbury, and they look just as good as their city centre equivalent.

For those on a budget there are some good good budget hotels that you can pick up for less than £55 per room - you can find the full range of budget hotels by using our manchester hotel search box on the right hand side.

The most popular Hotels in Manchester city centre

Arora International Manchester
18-24 Princess Street, City Centre, manchester.

A laid back hotel in central Manchester that doesnt take itself too seriously - the Arora is on Princess Street, opposite the Manchester Art Gallery, and beneath it is the popular Obsidian Bar, housed within a listed building. Modern, spacious rooms are available from £99.
Yha Manchester
Potato Wharf, Castlefield, manchester.

The YHA offers cheap double and quintuple rooms in a clean, fairly modern hotel that's based in Castlefield, not far from the city centre. With room rates from just £50 per night it's a relatively cheap way of staying so close to the city centre, with the advantage of the waterways and relative calm of the Castlefield Basin.
The Castlefield Hotel
Liverpool Road, Castlefield, manchester.

The Castlefield Basin connects the waterways of Manchester, and the Castlefield Hotel overlooks the canalboats that are lined up, ready for off. This budget accommodation is clean and modern, and if you get fed up of the (relative) tranquility then you have the rest of Manchester city centre on your doorstep. Well located for the motorway.
Princess on Portland Hotel
101 Portland Street, Gay Village, manchester.

Another Manchester hotel that used to be a cotton mill - the Princess on Portland is right in the heart of the city, at the junction of Princess Street and Portland Street. Reasonable room rates at a reasonable hotel - not going to set the earth on fire, but ideally located for Manchester's Chinatown and Gay Village, and close to the clubs and bars of Oxford Road.

Our Guide: Accommodation in Manchester

In the last ten years Manchester has had a huge amount of investment and the city is almost unrecognisable from what it was in the late nineties. With the huge number of visitors that now come to Manchester theres been a need for new hotels, and central Manchester now has a number of key hotels (and even more planned). The Manchester Hilton - the first in the city - opened in September 2006, and this followed the new Radisson on Peter Street. After this the Macdonald Hotel and City Inn opened, both are in Piccadilly, and they brought a new level of affordable luxury to the centre (with plenty of electronic gadgets as well).

Meanwhile over in Salford Quays there are two new hotels that are scheduled to open. The Etap and the Encore hotels share the same building on Trafford Road, close to Old Trafford and Manchester United, and overlooking (at a stretch) Salford Quays. Both hotels satisfy the need for more budget hotel rooms in the city, and there are plenty of budget hotels in Manchester that offer cheap rates per night. There's an ever-growing number of Serviced apartments available in Manchester and Salford Quays. Instead of paying for a bedroom in a hotel, you can rent an apartment within a trendy city centre development (on a nightly basis) so you get access to a kitchen, living room - usually with an entertainment system - and often a bacony, private parking and more. You can stay in a serviced apartment in Manchester for around 80 pounds per night.
