ManchesterJudge Jules Comes to VenusRadio One DJ set to play for Manchester’s Freshers The fact that Manchester has one of the largest student populations of any European city has understandably not gone unnoticed by the owners of the city’s clubs. One such club is relative newcomer Venus, who are planning a massive freshers' week party on Friday 24 September 2010 with Radio One DJ Judge Jules. At just under a year old, Venus has already reached the point where its original moniker of ‘Venus The Club’ need no longer be applied. Opened in February 2010, Venus the Club was born out of a club night that used to be held at Club V, called (surprise surprise) ‘Venus’. The owners were no doubt keen to make it absolutely clear what they were doing – Venus used to be a club night, now it’s an actual club in its own right. Any confusion that people may have had with Venus and Club V, however, would have been negated by the latter’s closure a few months ago – a sad end to one of Manchester’s longest running and, at one time, most popular clubs. Evidence, though, no matter how you look at it, that it was the regular Venus night that was the real success - a club night that, naturally, journeyed up Deansgate to the new Venus the Club, along with the people behind it. Venus, as it was always destined to be known, seems to have experienced little wane in popularity since it opened in February 2010. The opposite in fact, thanks to the introduction of their Collective Friday nights a while ago, which proved popular and apparently achieved the desired outcome – to inject some much needed life back into Manchester’s Friday night clubbing scene. They’ve also gradually been introducing some big names into the club; a bank holiday night hosted by Boy George back in August is now being followed with this fresher’s special with Judge Jules, the celebrated DJ confirmed to be gracing the decks of Manchester’s latest clubbing heavyweight on Friday 24 September 2010, which just so happens to be the end of freshers' week. Good timing then. The night, dubbed a ‘Rave in your Shades’ party, will also feature DJs Ryder and Peep Thong, as well as a giveaway of hundreds of pairs of shutter shades, UV face paint and glo-sticks, and loads of drinks offers. ![]() ![]() Your comments on Judge Jules Comes to VenusAnonymous says... on 14th November Agree Disagree47 people agree, 38 people disagree with this comment Anonymous says... on 9th September 56 people agree, 45 people disagree with this comment Anonymous says... on 7th May 62 people agree, 54 people disagree with this comment Anonymous says... on 3rd May 61 people agree, 58 people disagree with this comment Tell us what you think about this article Login or join for free to enhance this feature.![]() ![]() Sign up and get FREE club, bar and restaurant updates, weekly what's on guide plus unlock new features
