Panacea manager jailed

The "cowardly attack" that left a stuntman fighting for his life.

Panacea - the bar that no one can get in to - is reeling after manager Joe Akka was jailed for a horrific attack against a 55-year-old stuntman.

Wayne Docksey, who worked on The Spy Who Loved Me and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, has had a metal plate inserted in to his head and is unable to work due to the injuries substained outside Panacea last year.

The attack took place outside the swish bar on John Dalton Street, and the court heard how Mr Akka ran at Mr Docksey, throwing a punch that knocked him unconscious.

Mr Docksey was left lying unconscious on the street until a member of the public called 999. He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and later had an operation to remove a large portion of his skull.

Judge Henshaw said it had been a cowardly attack made possible by Akka?s position and that the incident had been an abuse of his power. He added that he did not find Akka to be a remorseful man in the slightest.

"Nothing can justify this level of violence being used on anyone. It is shocking that Akka, as manager of the club, felt that he had the right to attack a customer, under any circumstances."

"When the victim set off for a night out with his family, the last thing he expected was to end up lying in a hospital bed requiring brain surgery. He realises how lucky he is to be alive, but his life has changed completely since the attack and we may never know exactly why Akka chose to attack him in the way that he did."

Akka has been jailed for 13 months and ordered to pay ?10,000 in damages and legal costs.

Don't for one millisecond think that the victim was in any way involved with anything to do with Akka. In fact the police showed the court that the victim had not met his attacker other than to talk to him for only seconds on the night of the devistating attack, which left him fighting for, and will affect him unfortunatley for the rest of his life.

if you think about it, does anyone know the reason why he hit him? it could be deeper than u think? im not takin sides, BUT there is always 2 sides to every story. if this guy is 110 per cent inocent then fair enuf, akka was out of order. but how does anyone know, it could be sumet deeper. it may not of got brought up in court for a lot of reasons. appearneces can be deceptive, yes, you can watch the footage, but no-one knows what really went on. whos to say that the victim isnt involved with sumthin 2do with akka? think about it?!

Joe Akka did 10 percent of the 13 months he was sentenced to after being told in the Crown Court that he must serve a minimum of 50 percent of the sentence. After almost killing a customer he is allowed to walk the streets and go back to work in this bar after only a few weeks ! The law is like Jow Akka an Ass.

I have been going out to panacea for the past 4 weeks now, and found it to be a really nice bar. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the people that i meet.
All the staff are very friendly, and i feel its a well run establishment.
It was just today when a friend of mine told me to read the reviews and I must say i was very shocked at what happened, But must admit this hasn't changed my view on panacea, and i will still be partying there on saturday night . CANT WAIT!!!!!

although i can't condone this violence i know joe personally and can honestly say he is one of the most polite intelligent men i have come across, obviously as a man with a certain amont of authority not everyone is going to agree with me, after all who really likes there boss? I believe everyone deserves a second chance and although i understand peoples anger i am sticking with my opinion that joe is actually a lovely guy with a business to run, if people don't like it then they don't have to go in there.

I guess this is the only fitting manner and of course, the only diplomatic deliverance of illustrating Jospeh's social antics can be clearly defined through his network of friends. Joseph Akka has been spotted around manchester again with some notorious undesirables. Sure this is no surprise to some of you. His hypocratic door policy only seems to be isolated to weekends and at the attempt of a venue they call Panacea or is it pannorea. His arrogance, and narrow minded opinions on life will only lead him further to dangerous grounds and it is only a matter of time before an incident like this happens again. No one is above the law. He has got off lightly but like all of us, deserves the opportunity to learn from the errors of judgement. Trouble is, we all know, in this case, he will not learn and only destroy himself but those who surround him as well. And maybe as a brucy bonus, when he does self destruct, he can take that thing he calls a high class establishment with him.

Used to work for Joe Akka and without going into too much bitchy detail, he made my skin crawl. Genuinely hope he sorts himself out in prison and tries to do some good when he comes out. Panacaea and other bars like it are so false; what a bloody mess this whole incident was.

Joe Akka should think himself epceptionaly lucky he is not serving 13 years instead of the pathetic 13 months he's now serving behind bars, he was less than a whisker away from it being murder, he should be banned from dealing with the general public forever, even if this means locking him away.

The victim of Akka's cowardly attack will suffer pysically, emotionally, financially and in many others ways far longer than Akka serves in jail if not for his lifetime Akka should be made to really pay for the outragous crime he commited on one of his paying customers without showing any remorse whatsoever.

I met Joe a few years ago down in London. He's had this coming to him for a while and I hope he never gets back in the business. Boycott Panacea. It's a violent, expensive gimmick.

Akka's mother knows when or about when her son will be back, very unfortunatley Wayne Docksey's mother dosent know when the son she saw last in August 06 will be back with her if ever.

Akka got off lightly by the court accepting he didn't kick the victim in the head, he "only" punched him once. But looking at the reactions of everyone when the two go out of the clip he obviously did something else to him.

How in the world can he only get 13months?? There is video evidence of him actually hitting the guy!?!? The justice system is a joke. The guy has been caught on camera abusing his position of power and striking out on a member of the public. Separate from what the guy did, the manager has been caught attacking the man, after the hired(!!) security escorted him outside the venue. He deserves a higher sentence, bigger fine and to be banned from ALL venues in the Manchester area and never allowed to work in that industry for the duration of his pathetic life! This attack should also be shamed across all regional press

A rubbish venue trading on some false reputation manged by violent gangsters.
Avoid this place at all costs.

So, considering the published entry policy on the Panacea website is, "No shouting, no clouting" is the erstwhile Mr. Akka now barred from his own establishment?
