The legendary Dpercussion festival is now entering it's tenth year, and it hasn't been plain sailing. The loss of a corporate sponsor put last years event in doubt, but another two then stepped in to save it - thanks to Manchester City Council the 2007 event will go ahead, and it'll be expanded to cover two days (Saturday and Sunday) it's taking place on Saturday 4th August.

The event takes place in the bars and urban spaces of Castlefield, including the large Castlefield Ampitheatre and the venues are set alongside the waterways of Manchester. Dpercussion caters for around 70,000 people with hundreds of artists spread out over eleven stage and areas.

A host of official and unofficial afterparties take place - take a look at our Dpercussion events page as we'll be updating it regularly with after parties and related events.

Artists confirmed so far:

Norman Jay, The Sunshine Underground, Chibuku Shake Shake, David Holmes, Greg Wilson, The Whip, Andy Votel, Domu, Cherry Ghost, The Beat Monkeys, Sankeys, The KBC and Tramp.

............not to mention Music Box the after party was wicked everyone was on such a good vibe after partying all day!
The music was bang on and only £5 to get in!

i thought D-percussion was spot on... the music, the variety, the atmosphere everything was as it should be. £3, absolute bargain.. the creme de la creme of manchester music was there.

and the choice of after parties were great, with micron at Joshua Brooks, Cass at the Urbis and naive melody and sankeys---spoilt for choice.

People should be disgruntled about the event, they should be sad that it was the last one.

Was very good apart from that when I went out to go and get some cash I wasn't told when coming out that this event would not be letting anyone else in. I had already paid to get in I no this was for a reason why you had to pay but was totally unfair that paying customers where not aloud back..... But overall if they ever had another chance to do Dpercussion again tickets only so people wont be let down when arriving at the venue saying they cant be let in due to number people...........

£3 pound entry and people are complaining!
I got my moneys worth and I stayed for about 3 hours

this is the only event in manchester that caters for all (including scallys and snobs) it will be sadly missed.

I must admit I'd have been pee'd off had I not managed to get back in - we had to walk round from Jacksons Wharf but got back in all the same. If they do go on to charge next yr then all problems solved - limited tickets so entry to & from with wristband, £10 charge to keep out any Scally's. Don't agree with paying £15 for "quality acts." Keep it local coz that's what separates it from the other festivals - more than enough talent in & around Manchester & they'll play 4 free just for the exposure, with 1 or 2 headliners to beef it up. Anyone with a gripe about Saturday either didn't get in or hasn't been to any of the fee charging money spinning festivals - s*itty toilets & food, acts there just 4 the money and if u complained about the time taken to get served on Saturday............. then get your hand in your pocket, go to Glastonbury, V Festival, Leeds, T in the Park etc and u will have something to complain about. Dpercussion 2008 £10 - get it sorted - Manchester Council - stop being arseholes!

Had a great time - highlights were definitely Norman Jay, Guilty Pleasures and The Corteeners. Don't know what all the fuss is about - you wouldn't leave a gig normally and expect to walk back in. Hardly a loo queue, beer queue perfectly manageable (remember the arctic monkeys anyone?) and even the food was edible, loads of it with no queues. So they filled up at 6pm - what did you expect - expandable walls? With a "turn up and see" event you take your chance if your late - its not as if you've paid £45 a ticket and your not being let in - and even then if you walked out you wouldn't be let back in again.

Also in true English style, everyone queued at the one entrance even though there were people telling you to move to other entrances further down with no queues!

Can't believe people moaned at paying £3 donation for the day - how tight do you have to be!

ANOTHER CLASSIC YEAR, BRING MANCHESTER'S URBAN SURROUNDINGS TO LIFE FUSED WITH GREAT LOCAL TALENT. AN AMAZING DISPLAY & ATMOSPHERE, WELL ORGANISED, I TRUE SHAME IT BEING THE LAST EVER, THE END OF AN ERA! PEACE (DIDN'T MATTER THAT THE BEER RAN OUT)

WONT TAKE LONG

GOT THERE 5.30 TOLD TO GO AWAY AS THERE WAS 20,000 PEOPLE ALREADY IN THE EVENT. SO WENT FOR CHINESE.

FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD IT WAS POOR ANYWAY.

THE MCFC WAS BETTER IN ALBERT SQUARE AND I DON'T SUPPORT CITY.

Charge more get better acts and less stages. with 30,000 capacity this festival could be amazing. with some proper bands playing on the main stages and maybe a few local acts. i'd pay £15 entry for that. an all day event for £3... why?

£15 - keep away the scallies, keep the festival afloat, cheaper beers.
Less stages but more speakers - use more of the space where you can see the stages, put some outdoor sofas in them with some good speakers and you've got yourself a chill out area.

come on ear to the ground. dont give up. you've nearly got it right.

Typical Manchester, abysmal organisation. Forced to pay £3 when it was clearly advertised as free, ridiculas ques to get in, caused by the enforcement of coughing up to get in. Highly overpriced drink (£3.50 for a plastic bottle of Crapberg), s*ite rappers (not singers) on the ghetto stage, and to cap it all unless you managed to set up camp in the best accousticall posistion, you got an amalgamation of badly amplified crap.
Even disappeared for an hour to get a decent beer nearby, only to be refused admission on return....
Guess what, no refund offered.
Bag of s*ite

What a load of crap for the last ever DPercussion!
I can't believe they stopped letting people back in if they went out of the venue. Blatanly not knowing what they are doing at all. I do think Manchester City council have a lot to answer for at this years event. Not exactly the best PR for the occassion was it.
