fridays are rubbish in town, more options is good news innit.

well lookin forward to this one. had some mad nights at oxford road at the zumbar.

There's not much going on on a friday in mcr so I'm looking forward to it

funkademia and northern funk have become a bit more commercial over the years jords, my thoughts are that it has had to to keep going... I love visiting specialist nights that focus on black music for the more knowledgeable but unfortunately they are poorly attended and dont tend to last very long. I do take on board what you are saying and would love to hear about any newer clubs that play music from this era or similar style ..... but in a city were funky house and electro has taken over every club I still admire what they are doing. I may change my mind at the weekend but I will check out the launch on friday and report back.

This is best avoided if you like funky northern music. This may seem like a strange thing to say given the name of the night, but every time I've been on a Friday night, I cant help but feel like I'm in the phoenix club given the old DJ's and even older music. There's only so many times you can hear build me up buttercup before you have to leave early. Its history is the only reason people still go and I think there are many new clubs out there doing a much better job.
