I think it was a good bar to go go to for 11pm till 1am but then its circle or lounge 31 at the moment for me.. nice place busy nice crowd nice music its all really nice but never gonna take over from Panacea and Circle but a good alternative . the music is better in Red Door.

I will make sure that all comments re decor and staff are passed onto the management of the venue. We have changed many of the team since opening and are embarking upon training to make sure these issues are dealt with in the future. I was in the venue all night and noticed no stink of vomit... hopefully this was just an isolated incident. if anyone is unhappy whilst in the venue, please don't hesitate to let one of the venue managers know the issues and they will be rectified.

Many Thank

We are currently working on The volume levels of music in the venue and from this Saturday the venues senior management and owner have assured me that there will be a full comliment of bar, floor and waiting staff to look after you every need. I would like to take this opportunity to invite anyone to identify any problem areas on the night in the venue, so that i may help as much as i can. The venue is regularly monitoredby the security team and the GMP, this is for the protection of our customers. Every venue in the city is governed by the same system and all the doorstaff are individually licensed as capable by the Security Industry Authority. The whole point of the event is a fun alternative to a Saturday night in Manchester, to date we have had no serious issues either inside or outside the venue. This weekend is going to be chocolatey flavoured fun, so come down, have a great time... Just let your hair down.

Many Thanks

Marc

Hahahaha..."gangsters, hoodies and scum" I was there on sat night...guess i must of missed them!? You are right about one thing though...saw the police...but the police were everywhere in town on saturday. Shouldn't that be a good thing and not criticised!?

Also...i don't think personal attacks are necessary...i know the DJ...and he is very honest and genuine. Leave off...chill out...and if you don't like it...don't come. simple as.

It is a good bar for many reasons, our regular customers and guests is just one reson... others include, Music, The Venue The Staff The decor but most of all the love and the passion of Marc wanting to help you all to enjoy yourselves and putting on a party for you ! See you all next Saturday, watch out theres bunnies about !

Camera never lies... seen the photos and a funky video clip of the night and based on that 12 of came down to Redemption . it was packed by 12 and it was a really swiss and sexy crowd. The music was fresh and it wasn t too loud so we could have a drink a chat and a boogie... we reserved 2 tables, we were greated by the manager and the door staff were big but friendly enough. Saw no trouble and everyone was nice. Bar got busy so maybe a few more bar staff serving that s as much critisism i can give it and i send back cocktails at thehilton if i dont like em so beware ! French Martinis are great spot on !

Sophie says...

Yes it was once again a great night at Redemption . Thanks to everyone who came, Rio looked like he was having fun. Special thanks to The DJs Cliff who thumped out some great tunes and a special thanks to DJ OKE who made a guest appearance ( think we'll be seing more of you at Redemption!) Oh yeah I was RED HOT not my words but thanks Claire... Also Jane, the H2O track is a remix by Thomas Gold it is a tune !Again we have some spoof comments but these are begining to bore me as they are such lies and totally unsubstantiated. We have the entertainment and the comfort of all our guests and staff as a priority and we welcome the police to come and have dance and soft drink. thanks to all the DJs and staff at Red Door especially Marc and Kimberly

DJ AKAY says...

It was really busy but not uncomfortable. the music was good but not loud enough. treated ourselves to a reasonably priced bottle of champers and chilled with the girls and had a dance , pleasant change from the circle, the music was much better than circle and there is no atmosphere in Panacea anymore.

Samantha says...

It was a top draw night, the girls were fit and the venue was lush everyone really friendly and the tunes were great... didnt see any trouble and I am better looking than Rio !

Anonymous says...

I saw Rio too he has a lovely smile and he was with two huge asian guys that are always in Panacea, the crowd was spot on by the way and the DJ was RED HOT and the police were cool they didn t spoil my night and two of them were fit !

Claire says...

Does anyone know who the DJ with the glasses is?? he played a really cool mix of H20 and I want to find out what it is..I didnt get a chance to ask him ...

Jane says...

Yep Rio was there i saw him and he actually said hi top bloke.. It was really good I saw the Police in there but they were also in boutique and they were everywhere which is good more bobbies on the beat !

Anonymous says...

Err yet again I was out Saturday night I was there from 11pm - 3am and there was no massive kick off. no troble at all i wish people would just stop making these silly storys up its very sad. OKE was Djing with the regular DJ Akay and the music was its usual lively mix of some great funky house and some quality RnB.. the only kick off was when the music stopped and the lights came on and people wanted more... but it was the end ..If you were out on saturday night you will know that the police were out in force as part of a safer dancing / club/pub watch program they visited lots of of clubs and bars.. I saw them in Panacea and my mate Gina was in the circle and they were on the guest list so the police were not there at red door as a result of any call out or kick off ... fact ! I spoke to one of them outside red door and they were really sound . I like the police they are like super bouncers no one is goon kick off in a venue that has the police poping in and to be fair it keeps the trouble out...and you know if there was any trouble people wouldnt have stayed till the end they would have left ! People should use their common sence and look for them selves at what goes on behind the red door. look at the pictures and video on the www dot redemptionmanchester dot co dot uk . i am going back next week... also Rio Ferdinand was in there with two huge mates so there you go A list footballer !

Agreed...brill night!...some peeps just need to chill!

whats the funk is that person going on about goodfellas piza in belfast for???

Anonymous says...

errr what is the long essay about anon?? not saying nothing about your human rights you can say what you want thats free speach, but you are obviously not telling the truth... how was cotton house then, did you have a good time in a bar / restaurant last saturday thats been closed for 2 months?

you are obviously an intelligent person that is not happy about something so whats the matter ? I am not a mong or a liar, we all work hard to put on a great saturday night and we have had excellent feed back and reviews from many many people ... it sounds like you are angry about something but you also said that the bouncers were rude and told you you were a liar and pushed you away as there was no guest list so how do you even know what the music was like ?you said the venue is err s*ite and the people horrible... I and 200+ other p[eople disagree with you ! But thats your opinion, not sure what its based on as by your own admission you were previously having a great saturday night in a venue thats been closed for 2 months and that you didnt get into the bar in the first place so i am questioning your integrity and honesty not questioning your human rights! you are really contradicting yourself... ps WHLN have received an officail complaint from us and have said that they will track your IP address and bann you from this site as have manchester confidential... the right of free speach stands but not if you lie and your reviews are not genuine.

dj akay says...

track my ip address... you mong! this is a democrtic society and we can voice our opinion. red door is s*ite. the music is s*ite, and the people are horrible. staw away from this venue. This is why we have a legal entitlement to voice our opinion on a venue:- Restaurant critics, and newspaper proprietors, were celebrating yesterday after a judge upheld their rights to publish unflattering reviews of bad food and lousy service.

Sir Brian Kerr, the Northern Ireland Lord Chief Justice, overturned the award of £25,000 to Goodfellas pizza restaurant in West Belfast against The Irish News.

Ciarnan Convery, the pizzeria owner, sued the newspaper for libel over a highly critical review of his restaurant in August 2000.

Sir Brian’s appeal court decision had been keenly awaited, with implications around the world for publishers of restaurant reviews. Sitting with two appeal court judges, he ruled that the jury that decided that the restaurant had been defamed had been misdirected by the trial judge. He ordered a retrial, adding that while he thought a properly directed jury would have found in favour of The Irish News he could not be certain. It will now be up to Mr Convery to decide whether he wishes to pursue the case farther.

The newspaper’s restaurant critic, Caroline Workman, criticised the quality of the food, the staff and the joyless, smoky atmosphere of Mr Convery’s premises. The jury, hearing the case more than a year ago, agreed with Mr Convery that her review was defamatory, damaging and hurtful and he was awarded £25,000 in damages. The newspaper appealed, claiming that Workman’s report had been fair comment.

Lord Lester, QC, an architect of the Human Rights Act, fought the appeal on behalf of the newspaper, saying that it would be “perfectly ludicrous” if libel proceedings could be issued every time a critic wrote a bad review.

Overturning the jury’s decision after a two-day hearing in January, the Lord Chief Justice said: “I have decided that there was misdirection in the present case. I would allow the appeal and quash the order made in favour of the respondent.”

He added: “Although I consider it likely that a properly directed jury would conclude that sufficient factual substratum existed for the comment which constituted the preponderance of the article, I cannot be certain that this is so and I would therefore order a retrial.

“In any event, the question of malice has not been decided by the jury and this therefore remains an issue that requires to be determined, if it is concluded that the defence of fair comment is otherwise available.” The judges said that they would rule on the issue of costs after Easter.

Mr Convery declined to comment. Noel Doran, the Editor of The Irish News, said: “We are delighted. It is a great victory for The Irish News. We came here to prove a point of principle and we have been vindicated.” He said that the original verdict was perverse and added that if Mr Convery wanted to take the case back to court, he would fight it. “We will go as far as we have to to get the matter fully resolved,” he said.

He said that the judgment sent out a strong message that newspapers were entitled to publish fair and accurate reviews. The case covered not only restaurant reviews but the work of film, theatre and music critics, he added.

Workman, who is based in Cork, said: “I am very relieved. I think it is a good day for the restaurant trade of Northern Ireland.”

Irish News review of Goodfellas

After one ring of squid . . . it became clear the dishes were made with the cheapest ingredients on the market”

“Our main courses arrived in as much time as it took the chef in view to rip open three blue industrial-size bags of processed cheese”

“The staff have no more time to be involved with their customers than those in a motorway cafe”
