First and last visit to this place! It took us at least 20 minutes to get served mainly because there was only three bar men behind the main bar which was really busy! This was a Saturday night too! The poor bar man was getting it in the ear from everyone. I felt so sorry for him as it wasn't his fault; rather the fault of the management! Typical money grabbing people who prefer to pay less for staff to rake in more money leaving all the customers frustrated and not wanting to go back. They needed at least another two bar staff in my opinion!

Dont bother with the birdcage unless you have private seats! it completed spoilt our night having absolutely nowhere to go apart from standing in crammed corners and the bouncers were a nightmare, if you managed to get somewhere to watch the show, they would move you or stand right infront of you so you couldnt see in order to make you move! As we had to stand all night in crammed areas, our feet were throbbing and the bouncers were on 'shoe' watch, threatening to throw you out if rested your feet for a second by taking your shoe off! You werent allowed your drinks anywhere near the dance floor! it was like being at school seriously! not impressed!

It would have been a different story had we have got seating, but you have to book way in advance for this, we tried a month in advance but could only get queue jump passes which i would never get again!

I have been to the Leeds Birdcage which was better in everyway! better shows, and better organised with no petty and annoying bouncers on power trips!

I went with 30 other mates on a night out before my wedding. Absolutely top! Except from one thing, the bouncers; They're rude and to confident over themselves and start of nothing. Would definetly go again but I would have to be careful and not see the bouncers when I'm wrecked. Haha.

does birdcage accept major credit cards like american express paypal or mastercard?

I went Sunday night to see the Dreamboys with 13 of my friends. I pre-booked seats and when we got there we were squashed in a booth for 12 people none of us are very big and we didn\'t have any room. I had to ask for another chair which we had to squeeze in. I agree with the other reviews the staff are very strict and not nice at all my friend had a had few too many but wasn\'t causing any trouble but they came over and told her to shut up or she\'d be removed she was only boo\'in at the rubbish compare who was wasting time when in my opinion the strippers should have been putting on a show not him trying to sing Peter Andre What really annoyed me though was that we went out for some fresh air as we were squeezed in that tight we couldn\'t move in our seats and they wouldn\'t let us back in saying we\'d had too much to drink however 2 large groups of girls were fighting with each other in there and they were allowed to stay! It\'s the first and the last time I will ever go, it is not a patch on Funny Girls in Blackpool or The Adonis Show at least the staff are friendly and don\'t treat people like rubbish.

I attended the Birdcage in Manchester Saturday 20th February 2010 for my hen night with 19 friends and family members. The caberet was fantastic. Yeah the drinks were slightly more expensive, but that is what we expected anyway. The staff are very friendly and you could have a laugh and a giggle with the bouncers on the door. The only thing we faulted was that we paid for the seating area and people would just come and stand in groups at the side of us blocking the view from the caberet for some of my party. Would most definately visit again and definately recommend it to other people. Can i just add that the Drag acts looked fantastic. Thank you for such a fantastic night. Amanda

The first time I went here about two years ago I had a great laugh, however went three weeks ago and was severley disappointed. The act seems to be the same, unfunny face pulling being the most offensive. The loos were filthy and the door policy must have changed as the place was full of really rough women and chavs. Sorry Birdcage but next time I'll spend a few quid more and go to the original drag cabaret, Funny Girls in Blackpool. It's better by miles

You have to take all reviews with a pinch of salt, you have to remember the only people who are likely to review are those of the extremes, either really good or really bad.

Those who are complaining about the "cheese" need to remember its a comedy drag act, a bit of las vegas in manchester.

In my experience, the door staff are the friendliest you will find anywhere in manchester, and that goes to when you are getting thrown out for making a show of yourself and getting in the way of other peoples good nights, this friendliness of course only extends to the point where you take advantage of their good nature and think you can smoke in the venue for example and then give them abuse for ejecting you as a result. The door staff are there to ensure the minority dont ruin the night for the majority, and they do a good job!

As a member of bar staff in many clubs i can safely say, give the bar staff a smile, and they will give you one back, dont take it out on them if you think drinks are expensive, especially because the prices reflect where you are, a city centre night club that is not a student venue.

The Management are some of the most helpful Management i have seen, in alot of clubs if you asked to see the manager you wouldnt have a chance, in this club customer service is the main priority and they are always happy to help.

So, if you want a night out in Manchester thats involves more than getting wasted and walking home in your barefeet, and a night you will remember, then the Birdcage is perfect!

I am writing this as a pretty regular customer, who has experienced the majority of the nighclubs in Manchester

Myself and around 10 friends went to the nightclub on Saturday 2nd May to be informed by the bouncers on the door that one of our party members were not allowed into the club due to having a skin head whilst the actual bouncer had shorter hair than him i think the bouncers on the door are a total joke! I have only been into the club once before but will not ever step foot in there again as the security are rude very abrupt and need to think about what they look like beofre judging others!

Myself and 13 others went to the Birdcage on 28/03/09 for my sisters hen do We paid ?15 in advance for the reserved seating area and I have to say this was the best ?15 I have ever spent! I found all staff to be very helpful and the entertainment was fantastic. Only downside has to be the bar queuing time...but that really can't be helped with a club of this capacity and know next time I will by several drinks at a time! Would definitly recommend this club to everyone and will be visiting again very soon.

The venue has a 21 policy, however they do allow 18+ in providing that they are smartly dressed and have photo ID... i.e passport or driving licence, terms nad conditions apply, please contact the birdcage direct for more details thebirdcagelive.com

I love this place. It's always really good fun. The drinks are a tiny bit dear but only if you are comparing the to student prices in the week at other places if i'm to be fair. It is usually quite busy but rather than that being a bad thing it's more a testament to how good the place is. I've always found the staff to be nice enough. I lived in Liverpool for three years at uni and they have many great places to go out but if you fancy something a bit different and are coming up to Manchester for a night out this is definitely one to try.

Yes all photographs are available on the night it was taken on the touch screen kiosk located in the reception area of the venue, you can instantly print them as a keychain or photograph. However if it slipped your mind (in this case it did) you can contact myself via e-mail, or during office hours on 0161 654 8855 and I will try my best to search for your photograph and send it in the post. I trust you had a great night at the birdcage nightclub! and remember, next time you come in: get your picture there and then! :) Daniel Burns Residential Photographer Carl denver Photography Birdcage Nightclub

My Name is Daniel Burns whom this comment is aimed at. The matter with not paying the lady in question was not related to me... moneys were paid to a man called mr Sharp or Sharp Productions and I NEVER received any cash from the event... Mr Sharp then later found that his footage was blury (the irony of the footage not being sharp is uncanny) and he refused to return the 250 paid by the old lady. Letters and emails did exchange however I was getting nowhere.... I then later REPAID the 250 from my own pocket to the old lady some time later.... I didnt have to do this, this was NOT my contract and I did it out of the goodness of my heart. Also the contract had NO AFFILIATION to Carl Denver Photography OR the birdcage nightclub of Manchester. If you do wish to discuss this matter do get in touch. Dan Burns

2/8/08 went birdcage with my friends for the first nite out in ages, i have never been here before, and it was absolutely packed, there was long waits at the bar which was expected becoz of how many people was there, so we jus ended up gettin a few rounds in at a time.

i dint really get to see the shows becoz of how many ppl was there, but i watched on a screen at the bar and they looked really good, would consider getting seats next time if there are a lot of us.

the club did close early for sum reason though, i bought a few rounds in at 3.20ish expectin it to close at 4 an they kicked everybody out at jus gone half past.... disapointed but dint really mind, was drunk by that point anyway. i would recomend here for a good laugh and to be honest i dink actually see any1 get chucked out ... quite supprosin, cheers birdcage, p.s tell ur ristband people they put them on too tight :p

My daughter was in a talent contest that was held at the birdcage over 3 weeks, althought it wasn't a birdcage event, i have never been, i was really impressed with the venue and the staff were great!

after seeing the booths and the size of the club im definately going to be going for a night out, it looks great.

i also think that the venue is fab for hiring like the company who did the talent contest, its huge and seats loads, the lighting ansound system is great i really enjoyed it so thanx birdcage and thank u to who ever organised the event !

The Birdcage Nightclub Manchester is by far one of the best clubs in the manchester area.

the management of the club is of a high standard, the door staff are polite and a bunch of commedians.

the birdcage is of course known for the cheeky pedra hostess and the fabulous shows, they are extreemely entertaining and found myself laughin all the way through them. the drag performances are an added bonus to this fabulous night out.

whilst i was there i saw a spot of bother with a punta and the doorstaff was there in a giffy and diefused the situation really well. unlike some clubs like lounge 31 that seem to beat you up on the way out.

i also like the way they have their own photographer, and he doesnt pester you all night like other clubs... and you can actually get photos or keyrings.

i would recomend anybody to go to the birdcage, i really enjoy it! i will be going again in a few weeks

thanks :)

Went to Birdcage Sat 5th April with the lads, had a great night. Met a beautiful girl called Laura who was wearing a stunning black and white dress, she gave me her no but I lost it. Would like to get in contact with her if she replies on this page hopefully we can sort something out. Thanks. Stew

The birdcage does what it says on the tin.

If you want a busy club with loads of people and lots of people having fun you will be likely to find it here.

Personally I found the high percentage of hen dos and the number of people dressed up in silly costumes a little tacky. I was on a hen do and becasue the majority of the people in there also where I felt it took away from my hens special night. Sorry if this makes me sound too snobby.

It lacks sophistication of any kind but if thats not what you are looking for from a night out then disregard my comments.

Just been to the Birdcage 15/03/08 for my friend's hen night I had already booked it and then read some of these reviews, I was then worried about going and thought about cancelling. HOW GLAD I AM THAT WE WENT, it was fab, there was 14 of us that went all various ages and everyone had such a good night. I dont normally write on these boards but I didnt want other people to be put off by some of the other comments from people that dont rate it. The bouncers were friendly, didnt notice the table service but it wasnt needed as we ended up all going to the bar ourselves as the was never really a big queue anyway. If you do want to go and see a big show then go to a theatre, however if you want a night with entertainment, cheesey music(love it!) and you enjoying having a dance yourself, would defo recommend here. You make the night what it is yourself. Would defo go back again x
