Eastzeast review
As part of the cities 'surge' of nu-wave Indians (read:modern, clean, slate floors, floor standing wine coolers) EastzEast was up against it. The location of their first venue (they have recently opened up a second location on Blackfriars street), at the bottom end of the city hidden away beneath an Ibis hotel, is not so good. The name, IMHO, is awful.

With those two thoughts in mind I ventured in to their Princess Street location last night, and overall was impressed with the place. It's not quite got the flair, or decor of - say - Akbars, or Shimla pinks, and certainly not the wow factor of Karims (all three are decent Indian eateries in central Manchester) but in comparison the food at Eastzeast has a more traditional bent. The clientel was far more fitting for an Indian than most, as the crowd in when I visited were more laid back, with no suits in sight (as it should).

Service was a little slow, but nothing to worry about. Worth a visit, but whether you love this place will depend on how you like your Indian food.

I went to EastZeast this weekend and was very impressed. I have my own Indian restuarant so should know. Food spot on, service a little slow but they were packed to the rafters so forgive them this once. Good all round experience, would go again.

Eastzeast was quite hard 2 find(if walking) as it is out of the way of mainstream Manchester but once I got there I found they were very welcoming and friendly, the doorman really adds to the experience and was shown to a table of our choice and left to think of what I was having, then the atmosphere was amazing, a real buzz about the place! The food was excellent, the best Indian food I have had in a long time and the strawberry lassi and chicken boti are a definite must and at the end of the meal to my surprise I was given a pink rose which really finished the evening off well and I will definately be going again!

Being new to Manchester i thought i would try and find a decent, local curry house, so after doing some research found eastzeast which is not far from us is Deansgate.

We ordered from there tonight on line which was easy enough. The food arrived within it estimated delivery time, but sadly we were not happy with it. The food was bland and didn't have much taste and for what it was i found it quite expensive so i will not not be making it my regular curry house.

East z East is best restaurant out of them all!

Been to eastzeast at the weekend after hearing people talking about it. Food was very disappointing and the place reminds me more of a bar than a restaurant. For the best indian food I shall be sticking with Karims. Who's food tastes utterly fantastic and it also doesn't serve alcohol. So I can actually hear the person next to me and not get interupted by an obsessive lager loutValet parking is a good touch.

Don't know what all the fuss is about, I booked a table for my husbands 50th birthday, and had to confirm it twice, upon booking in, we were left whilst the somewhat confused man attended to someone else, we did'nt get the riverside table i had booked we were put up against a wall next to the cloakroom. The service was good although felt we were rushed, poppadoms, starters and main course all within an hour. I had ordered a cake which never came, not overly impressed with the food, so needless to say won;t be going back.

by far my favourite restaurant in the city! i have been quite a few times and come away more in love with the place than my last visit!
i have also been to akbars i can say there is no comparrison although the food is nice with eastzeast you get the service and the ambiance on top!

i went to the east z east resurant riverside and i must say the food was nice and can well compete with akbars but the thing which tipped east z east riverside over akbars is the Valet parking service whic was Great! theres no stress of parking as they handled all that. and the food and serivce was great so overall the nite out was great and definaetly be going back to east z east resturant.

I was in eastzeast the decor is fabulous but found the staff mislaid my order and there was a mix-up with my drink order. They had some mis-communication with the bar staff they made it out like it was my fault. Food portions were petite and not filling. Desert had melted by the time it got to us. I asked for ice-cream and it was un-edible because it had all melted perhaps they prepare their deserts right next to there grills. Service was very pleasant as is with all indian resturants unlike italian resturants they only seem to employ indian staff however, strange

We make our ice cream in Bombay and it is both a very hot place and a long flight!!

Eastzeast, well amazing food, great atmosphere and a the management of the place surely is 5 star! Both of the resturants have quality food and there is an excelllent vibe.
The decor is outstanding and it is worth every penny! The deserts menu at the riverside resturant is excellent!
It is about time we raised the standards of indian resturants.
If some people here are really comparing this eastzeast to akbars, then akbars need to get a proper chef and cook freash quality food.

This restaurant is let down by its design which looks like it has been designed by Ben and Jerry or even Tom and Jerry

I AGREE

There is Indian Food and Indian Service. This restaurant succeeds well on the first count, but be prepared to wait for a long time (how about some entertainment - live sitar? - Indian Dance). However there is bad attitude here and the customer should have more respect espescially as it is not cheap! Improve your attitude and keep your consistency

Nick says...

Been to this restaurant over 10 times and had numerous takeaways (under ibis) as food and service was excellent. However our last visit was a big let down. Just 2 of us were dining and even though we were there at 6.30 with the place half full we were told that we would have a long wait to be seated unless we agreed to change tables after our starters as they needed the table of 4, we reluctantly agreed.
We were then rushed through our starters and placed on a table for two, only for the table we left to be empty for 15 minutes after which 2 people were then seated! We didnt get an apology, a thankyou, complementry drink, nothing. Just attitude from the man in the blue shirt!
Great way to treat your regulars!
My hard earned money will now go to Akbaars down the road.

I worked on the building plans for the fit out of the restaurant - It was designed and spec'd by Paul Danson of P.D.I. (Paul Danson Imagineering) We chose the fixtures, fittings and decor, and all the interior design taspects of the place. Ive not been to see it yet though!

Come on what's your point?

I came to this restaraunt and absolutely loved it. Ive been to alot of Indian restaraunts over time, but this was by far the best. The food was absolutely out of this world, and the interior decor was modern, not like your average typical restaraunts. I loved EastzEast and will deffinately go there time and time again.
I rate this place 10 out of 10.

Ate at the new restrnt on opening nite - service was very slow, ambiance was cold as doors were left open and so our starters were cold as soon as they arrived, however as the evening went on, the quality of the food and taste were amazing, and well worth the wait, we got an apology from the owner about their teething problems, so it was a good evening. If u want good food then this is the place for you.
