Gaucho Grill review
Gaucho Grill manchester photoSteaks are the speciality at the Gaucho Grill, an Argentinean themed restaurant that more than delivers in style and food. Tucked away off Deansgate down St. Marys Street, the Gaucho is what I'd call a fine dining experience, with the emphasis on experience.

Your coat is taken off you by a girl wearing a military style earpiece and then you're free to walk through to the bar area. Good service, and a nice - but small - area to chill out with the 'suits'. On a Thursday night Gaucho seems to be full of business people.

The food is good, although not stunning. The prices reflect the look and feel of the restaurant rather than the quality of the meals and the service was far too OTT. Stuck on a table that's right next to the kitchen there were waiters and waitresses walking past us all night - we may as well have eaten in a corridor - and a glance over at the chefs didn't suggest that they were inspired that evening.

The one good thing about the Gaucho is the venue, and this worked even better when it was used by the Sticky Fingers restaurant. I've visited Gaucho twice now and I've always come to the same conclusion: it's a destination restaurant, not a restaurant you want to go to. Take the parents, a date or your colleagues for a special occasion.

Expect prices around ?25+ per person

Pricey, but very. The only place I have ever eaten a steak where it was cooked exactly as i asked for it.

We went for dinner on Saturday evening - booking online - when we arrived nobody knew about us! We should maybe have left then, but we were quickly shown to a nice table high on a balcony. Fine dining this is not - for 'lively atmosphere' read 'noisy.' We both ordered fillet steak which was described by our waiter 'as not the tastiest.' He was correct it was very tough and chewy, certainly not the kind of fillet steak you expect in 'good' restaurants. Side orders too were disappointing. Wine was good however but expensive. Bread and butter pudding terrific though. I felt after this 'experience' I had been through a wringer and we are not in any hurry to return.

i have only been to this restaurant once and it was fantastic! The service was brilliant and I agree with previous reviews: the steaks melts into your mouth! expensive but gorgeous and distinctive! highly recommend, for special occasions or dinner with parents and friends.

best restaurant for steaks with excellent service. Waiters always on hand if need be, not too expensive. Love it and will be back soon.

The best melt-in-the-mouth steak I have ever tasted...not cheap, but well worth it. Excellent wine too.

OK if you like a good steak with poor chips, vegetables or salad an extra. Expensive and disappointing starters ?9.00 average, ?5.00 for a soup.

This restaurant is out of this world. The service is fantastic (they bring out a big wooden board with all the different kinds of steak on, which u can 'have a play with' to see which u would like), starters are very expensive, but well worth it, and the steak melts in your mouth! Really good atmosphere too, very lively. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.
