Krispy Kreme review
The world's second most famous donut shop has finally to opened in Manchester! After a good few years of 'will they, won't they', Krispy Kreme Manchester opened in December 2007, and they've chosen Trafford Park (Next to Asda and the Trafford Centre) as their first location within the city. This drive through donut dealer opens from 7pm to 11pm, with drive thru open till 2am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

You'll be able to sample one of fifteen types of donut, and wash it down with fresh coffee and iced 'chillers' (similar to Starbucks Frappes). The Krispy Kreme 'donut factory' is based inside the store, and can churn out a considerable number of donuts each hour, and you can watch the process taking place (and get free samples too!).

The location of the first Northern Krispy Kreme may have seemed a strange one but we hear that they're going to open up a Krispy Kreme in Manchester City Centre.

This is a fantastic location and if you want the real feel of America you should visit K/K Trafford Park on the first Sunday of the month when up to 100 - 120 American cars are on show. There is a show this Sunday March 7th 2010 from 10AM TO 2PM. An even larger show will take place on April 4th at the same place and time.

Is it only me, or is this place just utter Amercian hype? Average doughnuts, More than average prices. Save yourself ?8 and visit your local supermaket.

Actually the correct pronunciation (based on too many decades eating their donuts in the US), is to rhyme with dream. In the states 'creme' is a popular twist on cream in product names, thus 'kreme'.

Stan Taylor says...

I regularly visit the trafford centre to get my hands on a dozen, however it has now opened near bus station in piccadilly, however be prepared to queue, I went there the other morning at 7.30am ans the queue was stupied, why do people queue just for one doughnut, I always buy 12, as it works out cheaper, and as we speak I am scoffing my face with a white cream choc glazed doughnut my fave!

Could someone settle an argument? My colleague pronounces the Creme to rhyme with "gem". I pronounce it to rhyme with "dream". WHAT IS THE RIGHT WAY?!?!

Creme to rhyme with gem is the correct pronunciation. To rhyme with dream it would have to be spelt cream

Anonymous says...
No its not 'creme to rhyme with gem' its cream. they started off in the states, where its pronounced crispy cream. it really annoys me when people pronounce it as 'creme', call yourself a fan. pffft

Went there this morning, and there were several coppers fullfilling the cliche. I mentioned this to the girl serving me and she told me they get a special discount.

I lived in America as a child and was raised on these gorgeous treats! They were my favorites alongside Twinkies and Shoney's Big Boy! Ive not had them since and can't wait for them to arrive in Manchester! This has been a 25 year long craving! I didn't even know they had them in London! I'm getting that Homer Simpson feeling....aaarrrggghhh.....donuts

i love these donuts so much, I'm so glad that they're coming to manchester! Will they be in tesco extra stores?

Helen says...

They are opening there because of the size of the factory that will be attached to the retail outlet, it will produce 290 dozen doughnuts per hour! and will supply Tesco extra stores in the north west, Leeds will follow shortly after Manchester, not sure where though.
