Simply the best restaurant in Manchester, Was quiet when we went but service and food was second to none. The waiter who served us was knowledgable and chatty. Would go again and again.

Eating out in Manchester - Restaurants

Look back ten years ago and Manchester was a city full of average restaurants - the love of chain restaurants and fast food joints, as well as the huge number of medioce places to eat, meant that it wasn\t somewhere that gastronomes would head to. Now, though, it's so much different, and the only problem that you'll have is working out which fine restaurant you want to eat. The cities Chinatown is still thriving, the infamous Curry Mile (Rusholme) is still packed with around fifty takeaways and restaurants, and there have been hundreds of food related openings in the last few years. Tapas have become popular, with an invasion of Spanish restaurants, and there's been a drive towards healthier places to eat. The city now caters for almost every concievable type of food (including, now, Russian) and the great thing about Manchester is that everything is so close.

The unique areas within the city (including the Northern Quarter, Deansgate and The Village) each have outstanding restaurants, and it's well worth exploring them, as there are some 'hidden gems' within the boundaries of the city centre.

It was once said that you could dine out in Manchester every night for thirty days and not taste the same type of food twice. The Manchester restaurant scene has always been at the forefront in the UK, and it continues to thrive with new and exciting eateries opening on a weekly basis.

If you're looking for an Indian or Chinese restaurant you should be heading for Manchester's Chinatown or Rusholme. The latter is located at the end of Oxford Road, a five minute taxi ride from Manchester city centre, and it's home to over thirty Indian restaurants and take-aways. Manchester's Chinatown, located in the City Centre has an impressive fifteen eateries as well as three supermarkets.

Manchester Food & Drink Festival 2008

Manchester Food and Drink festival takes place from the 3rd to the 13th of October. The festival has been running for a good few years now, and through the various spin-off festivals they take in the whole of the Greater Manchester region. Most of the cities major restaurants take part, as well as the regions food producers and local farmers - during the festival markets take place in Albert Square and St Anns Square (City centre).
