Apollo Theatre review
The Manchester Apollo is a multipurpose venue that's located a few minutes from the city centre. The 3,500 capacity venue has played host to bands that would rattle around in the larger MEN Arena, or those that prefer a more intimate environment. The Apollo is a historic building that suffers for it's age - the lack of air conditioning means this venue gets pretty warm, but the unique layout means that almost everyone has a perfect view of the stage.

Three bars within the venue provide the drinks, two downstairs and one on the second floor that is closest to the seating.

At present the Apollo is all about gigs, but notably plays host to the Manchester clubnight Ape (drum n bass) every so often.

Not exactly a "few minutes" from the city centre is it ? Also suffers from the blagger parking scammers who get away with it cus they have acquired a yellow jacket - and then bugger off once their patch is full. For a public transport user, it's just as unfriendly as the Academy venues in Manchester - just that too far away from the mainline train stations - especially now Manchester is a so-called "24hour city" - ha - my last train home is 2300 - on the dot !

You may be right about the '24hr City' and the bright yellow scammers but the Apollo is just a few minutes (in a cab!) from the City Centre. You can walk it (the back way, via Piccadilly and the Ring Road) in ten minutes...

I've visited the Apollo a number of times. The best way to get there from the city centre is by bus to the University then its a 5 minute walk to the Apollo. Stagecoach buses are more expensive at around ?1.00, but the lesser known buses (there's loads of competition) can get you there for around 50p. No mither, no scammers. Nuff Sed !
