Castlefield Basin review
The Castlefield Basin is the area around the Castlefield Ampitheatre, the stone seating area next to the YHA. Extending along past Barca, the Basin used to be the centre of Manchester nightlife but the closure of Quay Bar and Jacksons Wharf soon brought an end to that. In recent years it's become more of a daytime destination, and on a Summers day you'll find hundreds, if not thousands, of people relaxing by the canals. The area is used for the Dpercussion festival, which has taken place almost every year since the IRA bombing in 1997.
