***Updated September 2009*** One Central Street is no more! The venue will be returning to its previous form as gay club Number One Club, taking the village out of the...err...village.

Outstanding venue in the former home to the infamous Number One club, which paved the way for gay clubbing in Manchester. One Central Street has straightened itself up, and now plays host to some of the more leftfield events. The legendary Romp is bigger than ever, whilst the return of Bugged Out! Events on Fridays show promise. Inside the venue is 'sleazy minimalist' (read: red lights and dark corners) with a well sized sound system and plenty of seating.

had a great time on friday at northern funk, loving saturdays but havent yet sampled the legend that is Romp even though it must have been going for ten years now! One Central definately needs a bit of a clean up though as the I dont think the venue itself has changed since it was launched and it needs to improve itself to stay with the times. As a bar its not that amazing, they used to have top bar men who could rustle up a nice cocktail but they seem to have been replaced by minimum wage bar monkeys, but as a club venue it is worth the trip.

Monday murkage is the most god awful dive of a nite ever. friend got glassed, bouncer punched a girlfriend in the face and the sweaty narrow corridor of a club smells like tramp.
