Peter Hook is apparently the man behind Fac 251 and it looks set to be a big player on the indie music scene with club nights and live music nights planned. ______________________________________________________ The Paradise Factory / 112 - 116 Princess Street is to open on Thursday 24th January with Laurent Garnier and Mike Pickering The Paradise Factory is in a building that once housed the infamous Factory Records - there's still a Factory engraving in the narrow entranceway. Back in the late 90s the venue was a hugely popular gay club, with a head for the more serious side of dance music. Since it's closure back in 2003 the venue returned as 'Industry', and then back to Paradise Factory for some events in 2005. The venue has been described as 'legendary' which, for once, is a worthy title. In the gay community the venue was certainly the place to go, before the mammoth Essential club opened at the other end of the village. Some of Manchester's seminal nights started - or played - here, and it's central location meant that even the local students could venture out and see credible DJs. Even the student nights were good. The building itself is in desperate need of some attention, although many would admit that the 'features', such as the terrible state of the toilets on the second floor, gave the club it's personality. The last rebrand of the club did little to improve the club, and the sound system was especially poor, and that's clearly going to be on the mind of the next generation of clubbers who flock to the Paradise Factory v2. Now the venue is set to return in 2008 (24th January 2008 to be exact) and the team behind the Warehouse Project will set the ball rolling. They're promising to bring some big name DJs to Manchester, and if you've been to any of the Warehouse project events then you'll know the kind of people that come to the venue!
