Ritz review
The historic Ritz on Whitworth Street West can lay claim to being Manchesters oldest nightclub, but despite being hemmed in between two new apartment buildings The Ritz is still going strong, and putting on a mish mash of weekly line-ups that take in live bands, indie music and the infamous Lovetrain (every Wednesday).

The Ritz played an integral party in the 24hr Party People movie, and also lays claim to being managed by Jimmy Saville back in the 1960s. It's old school charm goes beyond the beautiful exterior, and inside you'll find a giant club complete with a theatre-style balcony and dance floor.

Well worth a visit for Brutus Golds Love Train, which is one of their most popular events, whilst the Friday and Saturday night events are a little townie for our liking, Indie on a Monday is highly recommended and gigs at the venue always benefit from the strange acoustics in the place.

What is Love Train like on a wens night.. and what are the prices like? X

The cashier on Saturday night was a disgrace. She tried to charge my friend and I £6 each to get in at 10.20pm.

When I explained to her that the flyer we were given on the street that night said it was only £5 at that time, she said I was wrong. I showed her the flyer and was told that she had to use the time on the till which was apparently way past 10.30.

After my mate also told her that she out of order for trying to rip us off, we got thrown out.

Not exactly the best customer service I've ever had.

Just a quick update on the ritz.

The lovetrain on wed is still going super strong and is the main night by far.But the old style ritz saturady nights/grab a granny/hen parties are now all over.Theyve started a kind of student £1 a drink night at weekends so just thought id let ya know. Not the place to go if over 21 or in agroup.

Please don't put the staff working indoors into the same category as the door staff, especially on gig nights. We go out of our way to be pleasant and helpful
