Heard of the Watergate in Berlin? Most likely not, but if you have any friends or family who've been over clubbing in Germany, and who have been to the club, then they'll be able to talk to you for hours about how great it is. It's renowned as one of the most technologically advanced in Germany, with a lighting and soundsystem that borders on the insane. The team behind new Manchester nightclub Spektrum have not tried to hide the fact that their new venue is based on this German institution, and Manchesters clubbing scene will be all the better for it.

Spektrum is on Radium street, and will be part of the Beehive Mill building, currently home to Sankeys, and the new nightclub will actually be part of what is now Sankeys Boutique. This upstairs bar will double in size when they knock down some of the walls, and the resulting venue will be opening as Spectrum.

The new nightclub will be aimed at music afficianados; people who want to enjoy music in a more relaxed atmopshere (and the sound track promises to be similar to what Sankeys plays now) without having a bunch of 'kiddies' running around the venue.
