Newcastle

The Hilton Newcastle was opened in 2003, and since then it's become the premier place to hang your hat for the night. Located just over the river Tyne - it seems that most of Newcastle's luxury hotels rooms overlook the famous river - in Gateshead, but close enough to the City to walk, and near to the Newcastle Quayside and a all the bars, restaurants and nightlife in this busy area. Gateshead itself has plenty of places to keep you entertained though, and the nearby Jesmond offers a more serene place to explore.

The Hilton has standard rooms (from around ?109) and executive rooms that are extremely luxurious. The service is what you would expect from a Hilton (Excellent), and the sleek modern design make this hotel a cut above the rest in Newcastle, and that's no small feat as the northern outpost now has has a number of key hotels that would put most cities to shame.

There's an on site bar and restaurant (Window on the Tyne) and the Hilton also has 24hr room service, plus some great leisure facilities as well, with a swimming pool and gymnasium in the hotel.

If you're visiting Newcastle or Gateshead and the Hilton is within your budget then you'd be hard pushed to find anywhere quite as good.
